Last night I dreamt of egg plant. Not exclusively. My dreams are often long winded, complex affairs and last night’s was no exception.

While I will not go into detail, I can say I was in a slowly flooding basement food hall / grocery story with a friend, picking out vegetables, including eggplant.

Today, while reading TokyoMango, one of my favourite blogs, I saw that it is a Japanese belief that if your first dream of the New Year involved a hawk, Mount Fuji or an eggplant, it signals good luck for the year. This first dream is called “hatsuyume.” Kind of cool.

Did anyone dream of Mount Fuji or hawks last night?

I dreamed about Goopy Cakes. That’s gotta mean something good.
